4. Hiram S² Ashton (John Rake¹) was born in Pennsylvania June 18, 1865. Hiram died February 14, 1936 in Berwick, Columbia Co, PA, at 70 years of age.

He married Grace A unknown 1889. Grace was born in Pennsylvania August 1872. In the 1900 census on the west side of Briar Creek Twp, Columbia Co PA page 109, Hiram (age 34) is recorded with his wife Grace (age 27), Howard (age 10), John (age 7), and Ethel (age 1). They have been married for 11 years and have had 3 children.

In the 1910 census 519 West Front Street, Berwick Twp, Columbia Co PA page 277, Hiram (age 44) is recorded with his wife Grace (age 37), Howard (age 20),John (age 19), and Ethel (age 11). They have been married for 20 years and have had 3 children. Hiram is noted as being a blacksmith.

In the 1920 census 519 West Front Street, Berwick Twp, Columbia Co PA page 5, Hiram (age 54) is recorded with his wife Grace (age 48), and Howard (age 39) Hiram is noted as being a blacksmith.

Hiram S Ashton and Grace A unknown had the following children:

12 i. Howard J³ Ashton was born in Berwick, Columbia Co, PA April 1890.

13 ii. John R Ashton was born in Berwick, Columbia Co, PA September 1892.

14 iii. Ethel V Ashton was born in Berwick, Columbia Co, PA April 1899.
