3. Samuel² Bellis (John H¹) was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey September 17, 1787. Samuel died November 2, 1865 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 78 years of age.

He married Mary Hals in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, September 19, 1812. Mary was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey 1789. Mary died August 18, 1860 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 71 years of age. In the 1850 census Kingwood Hunterdon Co NJ page 144, Samuel (age 62) is recorded with Mary (age 60), Embly (age 28) and Mary (age 17). Samuel is a carpenter and all births are NJ.

In the 1860 census Baptistown, Kingwood Hunterdon NJ page , Samuel (age 73) is recorded with Mary (age 72) and a servant Sarah Cronce (age 50).

Samuel Bellis and Mary Hals had the following children:

5 i. Lucinda³ Bellis was born Alexandria Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ.

6 ii. Sylvester Bellis was born Alexandria Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ.

+ 7 iii. Embly H Bellis was born July 24, 1822.

8 iv. Mary Bellis was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey 1832.
