In the 1910 census Douglas Grove, Custer Co, Nebraska page , Walter (age 55) is recorded with his wife Catherine (age 54), Jackson (age 18), and Henry (age 11). They have been married for 30 years and have had 5 children with 4 living at the time of the census. Walter is a farmer born in Indiana.

Walter A Bence and Catherine unknown had the following children:

2 i. Ida² Bence⁽²³⁰⁾ was born in Nebraska January 1888.

3 ii. Jackson S Bence⁽²³¹⁾ was born in Nebraska September 1892.

4 iii. Henry Lee Bence⁽²³²⁾ was born in Nebraska February 1, 1899. Henry died April 8, 1990 in Custer Co, NE, at 91 years of age. He married Wave Aldwyth Godown in Lexington, Nebraska, December 27, 1923. Wave was born in Barney, Richland Co, ND December 12, 1905. Wave⁽²³³⁾ was the daughter of Joshua Wiggins Godown and Ida May Knapp. Wave died October 1980 in Broken Bow, Custer Co, NE, at 74 years of age.
