2. Joseph² Mattison (James¹)⁽³⁵¹⁶⁾ was born in Mercer Co, NJ January 31, 1769. Joseph died July 3, 1831 Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 62 years of age.

He married Hannah M Godown Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, January 13, 1796. Hannah was born in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey July 12, 1773. Hannah⁽³⁵¹⁷⁾ was the daughter of Evans Godown and Abigail Roberts. Hannah died July 13, 1859 Frenchtown, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 86 years of age. A Joseph Mattison is recorded in: Tax list June 1792, NJ, Essex Co, Amwell Twp Census 1830 NJ, Hunterdon Co, Kingwood Twp page 373 Census 1840 NJ, Hunterdon Co, Raritan Twp page 332 Census 1850 NJ, Hunterdon Co, Raritan Twp page 54 Census 1860 NJ, Hunterdon Co, Raritan Twp page 209

Joseph Mattison and Hannah M Godown had the following children:

6 i. Mary³ Mattison was born October 27, 1796. Mary died January 15, 1888 at 91 years of age.

7 ii. Abigail Mattison was born October 10, 1798. Abigail died April 9, 1883 at 84 years of age. She married James Rittenhouse in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, February 5, 1820. James was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey December 19, 1798. James was the son of William Rittenhouse and Sarah Emmons. James died November 6, 1873 at 74 years of age. + 8 iii. Evan Godown Mattison was born November 24, 1800.

9 iv. Richard Mattison was born April 21, 1803.

10 v. Joseph Mattison was born June 30, 1805.

11 vi. Sarah Louise Mattison was born December 21, 1808. Sarah died January 1861 in Alabama, at 52 years of age.

12 vii. Hannah Mattison was born January 13, 1813.

13 viii. Rachel Mattison was born January 13, 1813.
