He married Bessie May Bush in Oklahoma, 1924. Bessie was born in Texas 1903. His first name is Edward in the SSDI but Edwin in the census. Edwin was probably his common name

In the 1930 census 1010 Locust Street, Alva Twp, Woods Co, Oklahoma page 8, Ed (age 32) is listed with his wife Bessie (age 27) and Claude (age 4). Ed was first married at age 27 and is a mechanic.

Edward Dewitt Mercer and Bessie May Bush had the following child:

46 i. Claude⁵ Mercer (still alive).
