3. Halbert Samuel² McClure (James Arthur¹) was born in Raphoe, Donegal, N. Ireland 1685. Halbert died May 15, 1754 at 68 years of age.

He married Agnes Elizabeth McTavish in Raphoe, Donegal, N. Ireland, about 1707. Halbert McClure came to this country about 1740. It is probable that he first settled in Pennsylvania. The earliest mention of his name is 1742, on the list of Captain McDowell's Militia Co. His deed is recorded in Book 1, p. 203, (Augusta Co., Va., Records), and dated March 19, 1746.

Halbert Samuel McClure and Agnes Elizabeth McTavish had the following children:

+ 8 i. Samuel³ McClure was born 1709.

9 ii. Nathaniel Joshua McClure was born in Raphoe, Donegal, N. Ireland about 1712. Nathaniel died 1761 in Virginia, at 49 years of age. He married Mary unknown. Mary was born about 1712. Mary died 1767 at 55 years of age.

10 iii. Hannah McClure was born in Raphoe, Donegal, N. Ireland 1714. Hannah died 1779 in Virginia, at 65 years of age. She married Robert Allison. Robert died 1769 in Rockingham Co, Virginia.

+ 11 iv. Alexander McClure was born 1717.

+ 12 v. John McClure was born 1725.

+ 13 vi. Moses Daniel McClure was born August 16, 1727.
