4. Joseph M³ Maxwell (Joseph², Josiah¹ Maxell) was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey November 1859.

He married Louise A unknown in New Jersey, 1883. Louise was born in New Jersey January 1865. In the 1900 census Washington Twp Burlington Co NJ page 278, Joseph (age 40), is recorded with his wife Louise (age 35), Elizabeth (age 14), William (age 9), Mark (age 4), and Larenda his mother (age 68 widow) and she has had 5 children with 2 living at the time of the census. Joseph is a sea captain and all births are NJ. They have been married for 16 years and have had 3 children.

Joseph M Maxwell and Louise A unknown had the following children:

5 i. Elizabeth U⁴ Maxwell was born in New Jersey October 1885.

6 ii. William Henry Maxwell was born in New Jersey November 1890.

7 iii. Mark S Maxwell was born in New Jersey December 1895.
