1. William F¹ Smiley was born in Medina Co, Ohio September 1839.

He married Mary M unknown 1868. Mary was born in Medina Co, Ohio June 1841. In the 1900 census Cherry Street, Eaton, Washington Twp, Preble Co Ohio page 224, William (age 60), is recorded with his wife Mary (age 58), LuLu (age 14), and James (age 9). They have been married for 31 years and have had 7 children with 5 living at the time of the census. All births are recorded as Ohio.

William F Smiley and Mary M unknown had the following children:

2 i. Lula F² Smiley⁽⁴⁹⁰⁸⁾ was born in Medina Co, Ohio December 1885. She married Edward Stephen Commons in Medina Co, Ohio, 1902. Edward was born in Medina Co, Ohio 1882. (See Edward Stephen Commons for the continuation of this line.)

3 ii. James F Smiley was born in Medina Co, Ohio June 1890.
