2. John C² Stong (Joseph S¹)⁽⁵⁰⁰⁴⁾ was born in Lower Oxford, Chester Co, PA July 30, 1832. John died December 1, 1879 in Centerville, Appanoosa Co, IA, at 47 years of age.

He married Margaret Finley in Lick Creek Twp., Van Buren Co, Iowa, December 29, 1859. Margaret was born in Alleghany, Maryland March 29, 1842. (Additional notes for Margaret Finley⁽⁵⁰⁰⁵⁾) Margaret died 1936 at 94 years of age. In the 1870 census LickCreek VanBuren Co Iowa page 298, John (age 37) is listed with Margaret (age 24) Don (age 10), Hugh (age 7) and John (age 1).

Died in a coal mine accident near Centerville

John C Stong and Margaret Finley had the following children:

8 i. Donald Pablo³ Stong was born in Lick Creek Twp., Van Buren Co, Iowa January 7, 1861. Donald died February 8, 1923 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK, at 62 years of age. He married Mary Letitia Culbertson June 9, 1887. Mary was born in VanBuren Co, Iowa September 12, 1862. Mary died February 9, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK, at 78 years of age.

9 ii. Petrolfe Hugh Stong was born in Lick Creek Twp., Van Buren Co, Iowa July 25, 1863.

10 iii. Mary Margaret Stong was born April 12, 1866.

11 iv. John N Stong was born in Lick Creek Twp., Van Buren Co, Iowa December 8, 1868. John died 1901 in Douds, Iowa, at 32 years of age.

12 v. Janette Ellen Stong was born Iowa November 30, 1871. Janette died 1944 at 72 years of age.

13 vi. Jessie Stong was born Iowa December 4, 1874.

14 vii. Christian Stong was born Iowa February 1878.
