He married Hannah Minnie Godown in Keosauqua, Van Buren Co, IA, December 7, 1898. Hannah was born Pittsburg, Van Buren Co, IA September 18, 1880. born near Leando, Iowa Hannah⁽⁵²⁴⁶⁾ was the daughter of Thomas Wilson Godown and Mary Elizabeth Lenegar.

Hannah died March 24, 1977 in Yakima, Yakima Co, WA, at 96 years of age. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Co, KS

Elias Sanford Thomas and Hannah Minnie Godown had the following children:

4 i. William Jennings³ Thomas⁽⁵²⁴⁷⁾ was born in Birmingham, Van Buren Co, IA November 7, 1900. Bill died March 15, 1987 in Smith Center, Smith Co, KS, at 86 years of age. He married Julia Violet McShane in Smith Center, Smith Co, KS, October 18, 1922. Julia was born September 10, 1904. (Additional notes for Julia Violet McShane⁽⁵²⁴⁸⁾) Julia died July 1987 in Smith Center, Smith Co, KS, at 82 years of age.

5 ii. Nina Viola Thomas⁽⁵²⁴⁹⁾ was born in Stiles, Davis Co, IA January 26, 1903. Nina died August 28, 1994 in Yakima, Yakima Co, WA, at 91 years of age. Buried at West Hills Memorial Park She married George Harrison Clemans in Smith Center, Smith Co, KS, June 8, 1921.

George was born in Tyner, Smith Co., KS June 4, 1899. George⁽⁵²⁵⁰⁾ was the son of John Grant Clemans and Alice Mae Campbell. George died November 10, 1973 in Yakima, Yakima Co, WA, at 74 years of age. (See George Harrison Clemans for the continuation of this line.)

6 iii. Neva Elizabeth Thomas⁽⁵²⁵¹⁾ was born in Keosauqua, Van Buren Co, IA April 16, 1905. Neva died May 1, 1994 in Anaheim, Orange Co, CA, at 89 years of age. She married three times. She married Robert William Thomason in Phillipsburg, Phillips Co, KS, October 15, 1928. Robert was born in Kansas 1906.
