1. John¹ Vansyckle was born in New Jersey 1779. John died February 20, 1861 in Cayuga Co, New York, at 81 years of age.

He married twice. He married Catharine Roberson in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, December 16, 1804. Catharine was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey January 26, 1785. Catharine was the daughter of John R Roberson and Lovina Thatcher. Catharine died March 22, 1825 Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 40 years of age. buried in the graveyard near Kingwood Presbyterian Church

He married Theodosia Taylor in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, about 1825. Theodosia was born in New Jersey 1793. Theodosia was the daughter of Edward Taylor and Sarah Curtis. He was a hatter by trade and made wool hats at one dollar each. He removed to N.Y. in 1832

In the 1850 census Aurelius, Cayuga, New York page 349, John (age 70), is recorded with Theodosia (age 56), Lavinia (age 28), Margaret (age 26), Samuel (age 22). John is a farmer born in NJ.

In the 1860 census Aurelius, Cayuga, New York page 716, John (age 79), is recorded with Theodosia (age 66), and a farm hand James McLeasty (age 22). John is a farmer born in NJ.

John Vansyckle and Catharine Roberson had the following children:

2 i. Abraham² Vansyckle was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ December 26, 1808. Abraham died September 30, 1859 New York, at 50 years of age. He married Lucretia Hinckley August 8, 1857. Lucretia was born about 1808.

+ 3 ii. Garret Vansyckle was born August 5, 1811.

+ 4 iii. Thomas Vansyckle was born about 1814.

5 iv. William Vansyckle was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ February 12, 1815. William died December 24, 1836 in Cayuga Co, New York, at 21 years of age.

6 v. Lydia Vansyckle was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ about 1818.

7 vi. Lavina Vansyckle was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ November 2, 1820. She married twice. She married John R. Powers January 4, 1843. John was born about 1820. She married James Everitt May 18, 1853. James was born about 1820.

8 vii. Margaret Vansyckle was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ December 5, 1823. She married Daniel McPeek October 27, 1858. Daniel was born about 1823.

John Vansyckle and Theodosia Taylor had the following children:

+ 9 viii. John R Vansyckle was born 1825.

10 ix. Samuel C Vansyckle was born in New Jersey 1829. He married Mary A unknown. Mary was born New York 1837. In the 1860 census Aurelius, Cayuga, New York page 716, Samuel (age 30), is recorded with Mary (age 22).
