9. Preston S⁴ Cross (Granville³, Robert G.², William Beal¹) was born in Hampshire Co, WV September 11, 1893. Preston died November 7, 1961 Troy, Miami Co, OH, at 68 years of age.

He married Viola Edna Godown in Medina Co, Ohio, December 06, 1913. Viola was born Franklin Twp, Darke Co, OH October 14, 1894. Viola was the daughter of John Washington Godown and Amanda Jane Spitler. Viola died May 25, 1978 Troy, Miami Co, OH, at 83 years of age. In the 1920 census VanBuren Twp, Darke Co, Ohio page 206, Preston (age 26) is recorded with his wife Edna (age 25), Wilford (age 6?), Wilma (age 4), Robert (age 2) and George Godown (age 37) brother-in-law. Preston was born in West Virginia and is a general farmer.

In the 1930 census Monroe Twp, Darke Co Ohio page 171, Preston (age 36) is recorded with his wife Edna (age 35), Willard (age 16), Robert (age 12), Glenna (age 10), Mary (age 8), Catherine (age 4y11m), and Dean (age 2y6m). Preston is a farmer and was first married at age 19.
