6. Uriah² Clapp (George¹)⁽⁵⁷⁶⁾ was born in Springfield, Whitley Co, IN December 12, 1842. Uriah died May 1, 1938 in Manson, WA, at 95 years of age.

He married Mary Matilda Godown in VanBuren Co, Iowa, October 22, 1867. Mary was born Franklin Co, Ohio June 1848. Mary⁽⁵⁷⁷⁾ was the daughter of Mark O Godown and Mahala Hurlburt. Mary died before 1910. Uriah was one of thirteen children.

Uriah and Mary also had 5 children

In the 1870 census Vernon Twp, VanBuren Co, IA page 377, Uriah Clapp (age 28) is recorded with Mary (age 23) and F.J. (age 1). Uriah is noted as a laborer born in Indiana.

In the 1880 census Gypsum Creek, McPherson Co, KS page 441C, Uriah (age 38) is living with his wife Mary (age 32), Frank (age 11), Minnie (age 9) and George (age 7). Uriah has the occupation of farmer and was born in Indiana. His father was born in North Carolina and mother in PA.

In the 1900 census Fritzlen Township, Woods County, Oklahoma page 171, Uriah (age 57) is recorded with his wife Mary (age 51). They have been married for 33 years and have had 12 children and noted as only 2 are living at the time of the census. Uriah is a farmer and they live next door to their son George and family.

In the 1910 census Los Angeles CA page 39, a Uriah Clapp (age 67) is recorded as a boarder with Alfred Wilkite (age 54). Uriah is a widower born in Indiana.

In the 1920 census Lyme Street, Alva, Woods Co OK, page 20, Uriah (age 77) is recorded in what looks to be a group home. He is noted as widowed.

Uriah Clapp and Mary Matilda Godown had the following children:

12 i. Frank J³ Clapp⁽⁵⁷⁸⁾ was born in VanBuren Co, Iowa November 1, 1867. The 1880 census has his age as 11 so his birth year would be 1888/1889 Frank died January 27, 1895 in Alva, Woods Co, OK, at 27 years of age. Buried at Alva Municipal Cemetary Block 8, Lot 27

13 ii. Minnie Elma Clapp was born in VanBuren Co, Iowa July 20, 1870. Minnie died November 6, 1929 in Alva, Woods Co, OK, at 59 years of age. She married Bryan Coleman Smithson in Greensburg, KS, October 19, 1886. Bryan was born in San Antonio, TX December 31, 1862. Bryan died December 31, 1951 in Alva, Woods Co, OK, at 89 years of age.
