1. George¹ Clapp⁽⁵⁷⁵⁾ was born in North Carolina 1811.

He married Eliza Williams Preble Co, Ohio, May 9, 1833. Eliza was born in Pennsylvania 1816. Eliza died before 1880 in Indiana. In the 1840 census, township is not noted, Whitley Co, Indiana page 230, George is recorded with 1 male 20-30, 3 females under 5 and 1 female 20-30.

In the 1850 census, township is not noted, Whitley Co, Indiana page 461, George (age 39) is recorded with Eliza (age 34), Barbara (age 14), Elizabeth (age 12), Michael (age 9), Uriah (age 7), Henry (age 5), Peter (age 3) and Joseph (age 1). George is a farmer born in North Carolina. Eliza was born in PA, Barbara born in Ohio and the rest of the family born in Indiana.

In the 1860 census Indian Creek Twp, Pulaski Co Indiana page 1091, George (age 49) is recorded with Eliza (age 44), Michael (age 19), Uriah (age 17), Henry (age 15), Anderson (age 9), Charles (age 7) and Martha Washington (age 22). George is a farmer with property value of 1,800 and personal value of 400.

In the 1870 census Indian Creek, Pulaski, Indiana page 466, George (age 60) is living with his son Charles (age 8) Eliza is just a few doors down noted with another family. Have they seperated, Eliza has health problems, or is she helping out in that family.

In the 1880 census Indian Creek, Pulaski, Indiana page 310, George (age 69) is living with his son Charles. George is noted as widowed.

George Clapp and Eliza Williams had the following children:

2 i. unknown² Clapp was born in Medina Co, Ohio about 1834. Unknown died before 1850 in Medina Co, Ohio. In the 1840 census it is recorded that Uriah has 3 daughters under 5. In the 1850 census thar are only 2 daughters listed born before 1840. So I have recorded one unknown daughter being born about 1834 and died before 1850.

3 ii. Barbara Clapp was born in Medina Co, Ohio 1836.

4 iii. Elizabeth Clapp was born in Indiana 1838.

5 iv. Michael Clapp was born in Whitley Co, Indiana 1841.

+ 6 v. Uriah Clapp was born December 12, 1842.

7 vi. Henry Clapp was born in Indiana 1845.

8 vii. Peter Clapp was born in Indiana 1847. Peter died before 1860 in Indiana. Peter is not recorded in the 1860 census so I have assumed him to have died before the 1860 census.

9 viii. Joseph Clapp was born in Indiana 1849. Joseph died before 1860 in Indiana. Joseph is not recorded in the 1860 census so I have assumed him to have died before the 1860 census.

10 ix. Anderson Clapp was born in Indiana 1851.

11 x. Charles Clapp was born in Indiana 1853. In the 1880 census Indian Creek, Pulaski, Indiana page 310, Charles (age 27) is recorded with his wife M. Alice (age 21), F. William (age 9m) and George Clapp (age 69). Charles is noted as being a farmer and Machinest
