7. George³ Ditmer Jr (George², Jacob¹)⁽⁸⁸⁸⁾ was born in Darke Co. Ohio May 10, 1842. George died December 15, 1927 Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH, at 85 years of age.

He married Caroline A Surber Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH, November 29, 1866. Caroline was born in Darke Co. Ohio December 20, 1846. Caroline⁽⁸⁸⁹⁾ was the daughter of Andrew Surber and Caroline Harnsbarger. Caroline died March 13, 1927 Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH, at 80 years of age. In the 1870 census Monroe Twp Darke Co OH, page 252A, George (age 28) is living with Caroline (age 23), Anna (age 2) and Amy (age 1). Also in the household is James Wright (age 80) and is noted as living with his children. Is James Caroline's grandfather? Also living right next door is Robert Surber (age 30) and is most likely Caroline's brother. Also living with Robert is his mother Caroline Surber (age 62).

In the 1880 census Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH page 255, George (age 36), is recorded with his wife Caroline (age 33), Annie M (age 12), Lemmie (age 10), Lewvina (age 8), Feby J (age 7), Ira S (age 5), Sarah E (age 3) and Willes (age 5m). George is recorded as being a Farmer. They are recorded right next door to Robert Surber, posibily Caroline's brother. Harvey is not recorded in this census.

In the 1900 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 57A, George (age 58) is living with his wife Caroline (age 53), Willlis (age 20), Ida May (age 15), Charles Edgar (age 11) and his mother Mary (age 89). Grandchildren Ollie Raymond (age 7), Elbie Ethel Raymond (age 5) and Vergal Fryman (age 2m). They have been married for 33 years and have had 9 children with 8 alive at the time of the census. George has the occupation of Farmer and own his farm with NO mortgage.

In the 1910 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 129, George (age 67) is recorded with his wife Caroline (age 63), son Charles (age 21), daughter-in-law Bertha (age 22), g-daughter Ollie l (age 17) and g-daughter Effie E (age 15). They have been married for 43 years and have had 9 children with 7 living at the time of the census. George is recorded as a farmer.

In the 1920 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 118, George (age 76) is recorded with his wife Caroline (age 74). They are living in the same household as his son Charles and family.

George Ditmer Jr and Caroline A Surber had the following children:

25 i. Anna Mary⁴ Ditmer⁽⁸⁹⁰⁾ was born in Gettysburg, Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH October 2, 1867. Anna died October 6, 1897 at 30 years of age. She married Moses Godown about 1887. Moses was born about 1865. Moses⁽⁸⁹¹⁾ was the son of Unknown Parents GodownUnknown.

26 ii. Emma Elizabeth Ditmer⁽⁸⁹²⁾ was born in Gettysburg, Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH August 8, 1868. Amy died 1919 at 50 years of age.

27 iii. Lovina S Ditmer⁽⁸⁹³⁾ was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH October 8, 1870. Lovina died October 5, 1955 at 84 years of age. She married Milton R Fryman 1890. Milton was born in Medina Co, Ohio March 1867. (See Milton R Fryman for the continuation of this line.)

28 iv. Lieurinth Ditmer⁽⁸⁹⁴⁾ was born in Darke Co. Ohio 1871.

29 v. Pheobe J Ditmer was born in Darke Co. Ohio November 1, 1872. Pheobe died May 9, 1958 in Darke Co. Ohio, at 85 years of age.

+ 30 vi. Harvey Sylvester Ditmer was born July 16, 1874.

31 vii. Ira S Ditmer was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH 1875. In the 1920 census 211 West George Street, Arcanum Village, Twin Twp, Darke Co, Ohio, page 183, There is an Ira (age 43) is recorded as a lodger in the household of Mathew Corwin. Ira has the occupation of head sawyer at the local saw mill. He is not married. Dates sort of fit but need more evidence. There is also another Ira Ditmer about the same age. This may be him.

32 viii. Sarah Ellen Ditmer was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH September 15, 1876. Sarah died July 7, 1901 at 24 years of age.

33 ix. Willis Ora Ditmer⁽⁸⁹⁵⁾ was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH December 23, 1879. Willis died September 26, 1961 Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH, at 81 years of age. He married Tillie M unknown in Darke Co. Ohio, December 25, 1902. Tillie was born in Michigan October 2, 1883. Tillie died November 1979 in Arcanum, Darke Co, OH, at 96 years of age. In the 1910 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 130, Willis (age 30) is recorded with Tillie (age 26) and miece Miller Ruth Ditmer (age 11). They have been married for 7 years.

In the 1930 census Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio page 175, Willie (age 50) is recorded with his wife Tillie (age 46). He is a general farmer and owns his farm.

34 x. Ida May Ditmer⁽⁸⁹⁶⁾ was born Monroe Twp, Darke Co, OH July 29, 1884. Ida died November 18, 1961 in Arcanum, Darke Co, OH, at 77 years of age. She married Oran H Brown in Darke Co. Ohio, March 20, 1902. Oran was born about 1884. (Additional notes for Oran H Brown⁽⁸⁹⁷⁾)

+ 35 xi. Charles Edgar Ditmer was born November 26, 1888.
