He was baptized in French Huguenot Church, Threadneedle Str, January 4, 1606/7. Religion: Huguenot. French Church register reads: 1607 Jan 4. GODON, Jan "fils de Jacob Godon et de Mari, sa Femme" John Goedowne of Wentworth streete, occupation of Tiffinie Weaver, is listed in the Parish marriage registers of St. Dunstan's Stepney, Middlesex Co. in the year 1627, being married to a Susan Turvill. A Tiffinie Weaver or Tiphanie as it should be spelled, is defined in Websters Dictionary as a thin guaze of silk or muslin. Muslin is defined as any of various strong, often sheer cotton cloths of plan weave; esp. a heavy variety used for sheets and pillowcases. John is assumed to be one of the three brothers that came to this country in the late 1600's. That assumption of them being brothers is based on the fact the all three lived at Wentworth Street when married. He is recorded a Jan_Godon in the IGI with parents of Jacob Godon and Marj
