Charles Lemuel¹¹ Godown (Charles Robins¹⁰, John A⁹, Jacob⁸, Evans⁷, Jacob⁶, Jacob⁵ Goedowne, Abraham⁴, Jacob³ Godon, Abraham², Main Family Line¹ Godown)⁽¹⁵⁹⁷⁾ was born in Luzene Co, PA May 7, 1871. The 1880 census soundex cards has Charles L as age 11 born in New Jersey. Other research including the 192 census, has him born in Penn. Charles died February 13, 1958 at 86 years of age.

He married Ester Rebecca Dolson in New Jersey, 1895. Ester was born in Fairfield, Cumberland Co, NJ November 16, 1877. Ester⁽¹⁵⁹⁸⁾ was the daughter of Ferdinand Dolson and Mary E unknown. Ester died November 28, 1952 at 75 years of age. In the 1900 census Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ page 72, Charles (age 29) is living with his wife Ester (age 22), sons Raymond (age 4) Albert (age 1) and Frand (age 6 months). Also living there is Charles mother Alice (age 52) and brother Frank (age 22). NOTE: Alice is also recorded in Holland Twp Hunterdon Co with her Husband that same year. They have been married for 5 years and have had 3 children, all alive at the time of the census. Charles has the occupation of Oysterman and rents his home.

In the 1910 census Sayas Neck road, Lawewnce Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ page 317 & 318, Charles (age 38) is living with his wife Ester (age 33), Raymond (age 14), Albert (age 11), Frank (age 10, Harry (age 8), Lesley (age 5), Helen (age 3) Milford (age 1). They have been married for 15 years, had 7 children all alive at the time of the census, and is a farmer and owns his farm with no mortgage.

In the 1920 census Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ page 281A, Charles (age 48) is living on Saxer's Neck, with his wife Ester (age 42), sons Raymond L (age 23), Albert (age 21), Frank (age 19), Harry (age 17), Leslie (age 14), Woodrow W (age 7) daughters Helen (age 13) and Alice (age 9). Charles has the occupation of farmer and owns his home with no mortgage.

In the 1930 census Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ page 182, Charles (age 58) is living on Saxer's Neck, with his wife Ester (age 52), son Woodrow W (age 17).

Charles Lemuel Godown and Ester Rebecca Dolson had the following children:

+ 412 i. Raymond Leon¹² Godown Sr was born November 10, 1895.

+ 413 ii. Albert Robbins Godown was born October 30, 1898.

+ 414 iii. Frank Bateman Godown was born November 29, 1899.

+ 415 iv. Harry Bradley Godown was born October 31, 1901.

+ 416 v. Leslie Sheppard Godown was born March 15, 1905.

417 vi. Helen Elizabeth Godown⁽¹⁵⁹⁹⁾ was born Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ July 18, 1906. Helen died January 7, 1997 Bridgeton, Cumberland Co, NJ, at 90 years of age. She married William Hepner in New Jersey, about 1925. William was born in New Jersey June 14, 1897. William died February 1971 Bridgeton, Cumberland Co, NJ, at 73 years of age. 418 vii. Mulford Starkey Godown⁽¹⁶⁰⁰⁾ was born Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ 1908. Mulford died 1913 Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ, at 5 years of age. Died at age 4 years, 8 months of pnemonia

419 viii. Alice Mary Godown⁽¹⁶⁰¹⁾ was born Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ May 16, 1911. Alice died September 5, 1928 Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ, at 17 years of age. She died at age 18.

420 ix. Woodrow Wilson Godown was born Cedarville, Lawrence Twp, Cumberland Co, NJ November 05, 1912. Woodrow died April 13, 1990 at 77 years of age.
