383. Alphonse Hill12 Godown (Clinton Barbour11, Charles Wilson10, Jacob9, John8, Evans7, Jacob6, Jacob5 Goedowne, Abraham4, Jacob3 Godon, Abraham2, Main Family Line1 Godown)(1718) was born Trenton, Mercer Co, NJ December 9, 1900. Alphonse died October 1942 at 41 years of age.
He married Helen F O'Brian in New Jersey, 1918. Helen was born in New Jersey December 1898. Helen was the daughter of Thomas L Obrian and Mary L unknown. In the 1920 census Trenton, Mercer Co NJ page 138, Alphonse (age 20) is recorded with his wife Helen (age 21) in the household of Thomas OBrien (age 50). Alphonse is an Electician in a wire mill.
In the 1930 census Farm Cottage, NJ State Reformatory for Women, Union Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page 88B, Alphonse (age 29) is recorded with his wife Helen (age 31). Also in the cottage are listed a Jones Hoffam (age 30) and his wife Clara (age 28) and an officer Bertha Hollister (age 45). Both were born in New Jersey. Alphonse is a repairman for Grounds and buildings and Helen is an Office clerk. Alphonse was first married at age 18.
On September 18 1942, Alphonse was struck by a casting which fell on him while he was working at a steel plant at High Bridge. He had to have his right leg amputated and never fully recovered. His obituary states he is the child of Mrs Mace Cook and the late Clinton Godown. He had 3 sisters, Madeline, Irene and Nettie.

grandparents, Thomas and Mary O'Brian.
He was a 2nd LT in the U.S. Army and was killed in a plane crash in Florida during WWII
