He married Myrtle Edna Cole Iowa, November 8, 1915. Myrtle was born May 20, 1899. Myrtle⁽¹⁸⁰⁸⁾ was the daughter of Elijah Shedrick Cole and Georgeanna Wix. Myrtle died December 17, 1972 in Fort Madison, IA, at 73 years of age. He is listed in the Iowa Cemetary records in Bethel Cemetary as Ray R. Godown
