He married Henrietta L unknown 1866. Henrietta was born in Pennsylvania February 1839. (Additional notes for Henrietta L unknown⁽²²⁵⁷⁾) In the 1870 census Bath, East Allen Twp, Northampton page 403B, Joseph (age 28) is living with his wife Henrietta (age 27) and two children Savilla and James. Joseph has the occupation of Farmer with a personal property value of $200.

In the 1880 census page 317, Joseph (age 40) and family are living in Bethlehem along with his second cousin Lizzie Huber (age 9). He has the occupation of farmer.

In the 1890 census, Joseph and family are living in Hanover Twp, Northampton Co, PA

In the 1900 census, Joseph (age 60) is living with Henrietta (age 61) and Hattie (age 14) in Hanover Twp, Northampton Co, PA

Joseph Heckman and Henrietta L unknown had the following children:
