18. John⁴ Kugler (John (James)³, John², John¹)⁽³⁰³⁷⁾ was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ August 23, 1823.⁽³⁰³⁸⁾

He married twice. He married Mary Schamp in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, 1848. Mary was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey 1824. Mary⁽³⁰³⁹⁾ was the daughter of Isaac G Schamp and Mary Groff. Mary died 1863 Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, at 39 years of age. She had 2 sons and 4 daughters.

He married Mary Elizabeth Thatcher in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, January 4, 1865. Mary was born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey 1839. Mary was the daughter of Mahlon Nelson Thatcher and Catherine Rittenhouse. Mary had 1 son and 3 daughters. In the 1850 census Alexandria Hunterdon NJ page 159, John (age 27) is recorded with Mary (age 25), Harriett (age 8m) and John Kinney (age 12). John is a farmer and all births are NJ.

In the 1860 census Baptisttown Kingwood Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page 707. John (age 37), is recorded with Mary (age 36), Harriett (age 10), James (age 8), Frances (age 6), Hulda (age 3), William (age 7m), Mary Schomp (age 75), Martin Lockman (age 12), and Largine Sinclair (age 20). John is a farmer and all births are NJ.

In the 1870 census Baptisttown Kingwood Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page . John (age 47), is recorded with Elizabeth (age 30), Harrietta (age 20), James (age 17), Mary F (age 15), Hulda (age 13), Ella (age 4), Emma? (age 1), David Willron (age 16), and Asbury Roberson (age 23). John is a farmer and all births are NJ.

In the 1880 census Kingwood Twp Hunterdon Co NJ page 56. John (age 56), is recorded with Mary E (age 39), Hulda (age 22), Ella (age 13), Ammie (age 11), William (age 7) Martha (age 2), Levi Lemming (age 28), Joseph Johnson (age 21), and Pierson Hatcher (age 15). John is a farmer and all births are NJ.

John Kugler and Mary Schamp had the following children:

46 i. Harriet⁵ Kugler was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ February 1849. She married Albert Fritts in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, October 14, 1877. Albert was born in New Jersey April 1850.

47 ii. James Kugler was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ December 1851. James died 1929 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 77 years of age. Buried at Frenchtown Cemetery, Hunterdon Co NJ. He married Annie E Woolery.

Annie was born in Pennsylvania December 1850. Annie died 1925 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 74 years of age. Buried at Frenchtown Cemetery, Hunterdon Co NJ.

48 iii. Mary Frances Kugler was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ 1853.

49 iv. Hulda W Kugler was born Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ 1856. She married James Alpaugh Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ, January 1, 1884. James was born January 12, 1864. James died June 28, 1897 in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, at 33 years of age. i0 Hulda is burried next to a James in the Frenchtown Cemetery:
